"An astrological era believed to bring increased spirituality and harmony on earth."
Today is my birthday and it heralds a new and exciting chapter in my life. Today is also my last day at the school at which I have been a member of staff for 12 years and possibly my last day ever in the teaching profession.
Just over 2 weeks ago, a million stars aligned and we made a sudden and drastic decision to take our lives by the horns and reclaim it as our own as we continue to seek the perfect work/life/travel balance. Two things had been troubling me... 1. Our planned 3-month long, 2018 lap of Aus just wasn't going to be long enough to quench our thirst and 2. How do we venture around this beautiful country's wide open spaces to return to our crazy, busy, hectic lives here in Sydney- our home city that we love- BUT will we be satisfied when the lap is done to come back to this? The perfect solution to our ramblings presented itself at just the right time on so many fronts.
For quite sometime now the question of "is this all there is?" has echoed in my head. This 'Australian dream' has become more like a nightmare as we run on the treadmill of city life in the 21st century. I had known for sometime that a change was coming- I could just feel it, but I never saw this coming. We knew we had to be patient and that we would know when the opportunity presented itself, and we did.
A day later I went into work and told the Principal that I was taking leave as soon as possible and would be unlikely to return to the school... an exciting journey awaits!
Since making this decision, I could only describe the feeling I have as euphoric. The best part for me right now is turning the page but not knowing which book I will pick up next or where our journey will lead... stay with us for the next chapter...
